STILL LIFE!

Term 4 2024

Students will learn about Still Life and how selected artists produced their artworks and how contemporary artists produce their works today.

In this 8-week course, you will develop and further understand the creative process and progress your art technique in a fun and supportive environment.

This term, you will learn about Still Life and how selected artists produced their artworks and how contemporary artists produce their works today.

We start with collage & mixed media based on the works of the French artist Paul Cezanne. We then step into printmaking taking in the works of the Japanese woodblock artists and Australian artist, Cressida Campbell.

Then it’s painting focus with a look at Baroque art and contemporary baroque art. We then look at observational drawing and watercolours to create beautiful leaves inspired by our very own tutor and award winning artist, Rachel Bolton.

We round out the term with an Australian contemporary focus looking at Jonathan Dalton and his hyper realism where will use acrylic painting with a focus on blending, tone and form. The final week looks at the interesting compositions of artist Jude Rae. Here we will use oils and explore the “fat over lean” technique.

We will explore drawing mediums, including collage, Mixed media, printmaking, watercolours, acrylic painting and oil painting.  Other techniques will include drawing, as drawing underpins most of our process art techniques. We will also explore a variety of subject matters related to portraiture, landscapes, animals, still life, urban landscapes and the human figure.

Our process based art studio teaching is founded in the Great Art Movements, and each week we explore a different era of Art History and Fine Art Techniques!

Create a Body of Work masterpiece to take home!

The first 6 weeks are spent learning various techniques while in the last few weeks, you develop your own Still Life inspired mini Body of Work masterpiece based on the choice of techniques we looked at and developed over the course of the term!

All materials, tuition and light refreshments are included.
